Approximately 600 students have begun their studies at the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems.
The new 2025/2026 academic year was inaugurated on September 30, 2025, with an address by Dean Professor Rafał Walczak and the ceremonial matriculation of first-year students.
The inaugural lecture, entitled “Space Within Reach – Opportunities for Young Engineers in the NewSpace Era,” was delivered by M.Sc. Eng. Jędrzej Kowalewski – a Ph.D. student at our Faculty and the founder of Scanway S.A.
It was an inspiring journey through the world of new technologies, with a special focus on the space industry, showing the vast opportunities that await today’s young scientists and engineers. The speaker explained how the achievements of space engineering influence our everyday lives and offered insight into the daily work of space engineers. He presented space as a kind of experimental ground – increasingly accessible, affordable, and open to the extent that it is now possible to launch one’s own payloads into orbit.
He also informed the audience about the participation of our students in space missions. Among the developments created at our Faculty are dedicated lab chips, optical detection modules, microflow control modules, and mechanical structures for the experimental payload of the Cubesat3U satellite.
Each year, the Dean of our Faculty recognizes exceptional academic achievements, active involvement, and outstanding dedication of individual students by awarding a special prize.
