On 15 September 2021, the Faculty of Microsystem Electronics and Photonics (W12) was transformed into the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems (W12N).

The structure of the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems includes the following departments:

• Department of Acoustics, Multimedia and Signal Processing;
• Department of Cybernetics and Robotics;
• Department of Electronic and Photonic Metrology;
• Department of Microelectronics and Nanotechnology;
• Department of Microsystems;
• Department of Nanometrology;
• Department of Field Theory, Electronic Circuits and Optoelectronics.

W12N thus integrates the departments of the previous faculties W4 and W12 gathered in the discipline of Automation, Electronic and Electrical Engineering. After the changes, the Faculty will still address the same modern research and teaching aspects, albeit in an extended, often interdisciplinary, scope corresponding to the needs of the knowledge-based economy and digital society.

From the academic year 2021/2022, the following fields of study are offered at the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems:

• Electronic and Computer Engineering;
• Electronics;
• Electronics and Telecommunications;
• Electronic Mechatronics Systems;
• Intelligent Electronics;
• Mechatronic Microsystems Engineering.
