Modern Educational Facilities Through Cooperation with STMicroelectronics

Date: 13.05.2026 Categories: Faculty life , Student affairs

Today, on the initiative of the Department of Nanometrology and in cooperation with STMicroelectronics, we officially inaugurated new laboratory workstations that will be available to students already in the current academic year.

The Faculty has been enriched with modern educational facilities in the form of 20 NUCLEO-G474RE development kits together with X-NUCLEO-IKS4A1 sensor modules, donated by STMicroelectronics. This hardware will be integrated into the "Embedded Processors" course curriculum.

To ensure the effective implementation of these tools, faculty members will participate in a professional training session titled "Rapid development of anomaly detection.

The STM32 NUCLEO-G474RE microcontrollers are optimized for high-performance digital signal processing (DSP) and machine learning. Their  architecture provides significant advantages for real-time applications:

  • FPU (Floating Point Unit): Provides hardware support for floating-point operations, which is critical for efficient FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) calculations.
  • CORDIC Accelerator: a dedicated hardware engine for trigonometric functions (sin, cos, atan), significantly reducing CPU overhead.
  • FMAC (Filter Mathematical Accelerator): Accelerates convolution operations, essential for digital filtering and neural network processing.

These features enable advanced on-device learning, allowing students to develop systems that analyze data and detect anomalies locally.
